Because there lobbyists put a lot of money into their pockets. Politics is just like any other business, its really all about profits. Lobbyist and interests group pay big money to make sure their best interest are looked after and Representatives are all looking to cash in. I shouldnt say all but a lot of them have their hand out and are looking to get paid. Nothing is free.

Because the bottom line in politics today, is money. It is money that gets you into office, and money that keeps your there. To put it bluntly, the lobbyists and special interests groups bring a lot more to the table than us humble constituents.
I had hoped, with all the talk of campaign finance reform, that this would change. But sadly, the bills that were approved were little more than smoke and mirrors with the end result that nothing has changed.

They don't.
Constituents always come first. Atleast in my office anyway.
If a constituent shows up and I can't fit them in the schedule for the day, I will reschedule a lobbyist appointment.
Constituents are always the #1 priority.

Smitty, if that's true, I applaud whoever you work for, it certainly isn't the norm, at least not on the federal level.
It's all about the money, everything is and the sooner we realize it the more we can demand of our elected officials.

Because it is about power and people that are prone to favoring suck ups and payoffs are naturally drawn to politics.
