We pay for this because security in the middle east is currently in our best interest. Because we draw so much of our oil from the region, keeping the neighboring countries 'in-line' tends to help us ensure that our resources keep coming.

The economy of this country, like it or not, runs on oil. From the plastics you see on everyday products, manufacturing, transportation, etc, it all has a basic necessity for oil. Without it, all the other issues would probably become obsolete.

No oil? No machinery running on farms, No processing. No transportation for food. No tires for vehicles.

While I agree with you that we need to clean up our act, just remember that change takes time...

Well the only reason terrorists attack us is because we meddle. They had reasons for wanting to harm us, I know it was wrong, I know it was evil. But we should let them be. Let them live in there own mess and we should worry about our own people first. I know there is a huge number of kids living in poverty in America, some people live in nothing more than a shack. I can see why everybody made a fuss after the hurricane struck, I don't think Bush really cares much about poor black people. The Us should pay for it now though, they contributed to that mess, bombing them hardly helped matters. Should of stayed out of it years ago, let the UN deal with such things, that's what they are there for.

Hmm saying that New Catholic, you struck a chord with me, we do have to look at the bigger picture and if we try to help out these countries maybe the future would be better. I'm not completely sure of Bush's reasons behind all this though.

We haven't gone after those responsible for 9/11 (except the fliers, who all died in the crashes) -- Bin Laden, the guy who planned and funded it, still a free man.

We should pay to rebuild countries we destroyed.

Yes, it would have been much better not to have destroyed them in the first place, and the whole world (and much of the US) tried to tell the freaks in power that, but they have never been willing to listen to reason.

Ever.

Well, we destroyed these countries. We paid to demolish infrastructure to instill what we thought was a just form of government.

So, we can trash whom we like and leave the people to starve, rot in poor hygiene with no infrastructure?

Iraq didn't destroy the twin towers. The 9/11 report showed that. We've already killed many times more people than they did in New York. What exactly do you wish to do? How about if we just pull out, nuke the whole country so that there aren't any sick or suffering people left there? Sound good to you?

Considering the tens of billions of dollars that 9/11 cost, and the potential of hundreds of billions more if al Qaeda can lay hands on WMD, the Iraq and Afghanistan efforts could be a bargain. I would prefer not to find out the hard way that discontinuing those operations was a mistake.

Sure it would be a better idea to let them slip back to the Muslim extremists and keep attacking us.

That would not cost us anything would it?

Any idea of the cost after even a small dirty bomb going off in New York?

1,000 times what we are spending in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

Look at the big picture!

Peace!

US has to pay for it because US bombes the sh*t out of these countries..However I think that Afghanistan was a just action and they should pay for it themselves..The Iraq war was ubjust so The Bush family should pay out of their own pocket.

maybe we do financial and physical help because that's what we did in Germany and Japan, we helped them after we bombed the hee haw out of them and now their the USA's friends.
Of course friends come and go and as long as Iraq's and Afghanistan has leaders that are friendlies, then we help, otherwise hold on to your rear !

We did help tear it up, after all.

I do agree that we should place more focus on the home front, or our brave guys and gals won't have much to come home to...

If the exterminator was looking for a rat in your house, would you be ok with him destroying your house and then just leaving?
