He freely admits that he can't sing. He is not a singer. He is a record producer and an entrepreneur.
In a way, his honesty is refreshing.

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.
Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

I don't know why everyone is so hard on Simon.....his job, even well before he was on American Idol, is to find talent......he doesn't claim to be a singer, but he can FIND talented singer.......you don't have to be a race car driver to know about cars, right? Same principal here......
Yes, the guy is brutally honest, but he has to be.....his company is not going to front money to record music for an artist that is just average......that is his business, and his job at stake if the records don't sell. (Yes, he does have a job other than American Idol) He's not going to tell someone that they are good when they really weren't that good. It's better to be honest than to tell someone that they have talent when they don't....I mean, who is telling some of these contestants that they should try out for American Idol??? Some of them are HORRIBLE!!

Yes, Simon can be rude. However, he does speak the truth, even though he can't sing. But really, it's his job to be a critic. He has a good ear, just not good vocal chords.

Nope, is he a singer? Or a composer? Or a dancer? Certainly he is not a singer that is why he never sings for others to correct their singing abilities.
