To understand China you have to examine the core social differeneces between a capitalist and a communist structure... not economically but socially.
The difference is and why China will surpass the USA in superpower status is that our capitalist society is taught from birth that wealth and success evolve around 'self'. A communist society teaches their citizens from birth that success evolves around 'community'.
So what you end with is a society of self-centered aholes versus a society of citizens willing to give their lives for their country. Btw, this is why you see many Chinese leaders looked upon as a 'father' and loved as such.... this stems out of the sense of family or community I was referring to. In addition, the community takes care of its citizens.
Capitalist are always trying to make the argument that capitalism is more productive and successful. It isn't as China is about to show us. In the end, all capitalism does it produce an elite group of very extremely greedy ppl that control most of the wealth and a society of resentful ppl of that wealth. China is illustrating to the world that communism works.

It seems likely that China will be the worlds next super power as long as they are able to find the resources they need to meet the needs of their huge population.
Don't count out India though - they also have a chance at being the world's next super power, and as of now India has a more advanced economy than China.

They will become a super-power because of their rapid industrialization and arms advancements. The Clinton Administration ensured that they received the latest missile guidance capabilities so they can strike accurately anywhere in the world. Their Communist government may not handle that success modestly, however, so they will also become a super pain in the patootie for other countries.

They won't because China is only letting us know what China wants us to know...They have internal problems up the poo poo chute.remember the USSR.
