The guy is too far a "drama king". Telling it like it is = not a problem...but Simon has a thing for using terms that sound like "poo poo head" and otherwise drone on without purpose (beside bullying the buhjeeezus out of the singer).

The guy is kind of a metaphor for the music industry nowadays (as compared to Indie labels): yes, he's a pro and knows his stuff, but he's more into musical technicallities and marketability in his chosen singers he often forgets about emotion (which is a huge part of what makes a good long-term musician in the first place...and what drives them to learn to become better performers)
In other words, Simon is a "king of his castle" and knows the music industry well, but he's too proud and some singers who aren't good, but have the emotion and could learn have technicallities thrown in their face.

Simon thought Carrie wouldn't make it and ditched out Rascal Flatts...but look at them now. And just think about "weird" pop masters like Van Morrison and Cake, maybe even Modest Mouse...surely Simon would have voted them off for being "different" and not comparable to existing hit artists.

Some girls like his accent or looks: that's fine and understandable but I am thinking of him not as an "actor" or "model" but in terms of WHAT HE'S DOING FOR THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. And, sad to say, the guy is giving the industry a huge stab in terms of forcing conformity and stunting musical innovation...and that's nothing to be proud of, in my opinion.

ok, simon was such a stud in the past but now he is just brillantly honest. i think. because everyone shown on tv goes through another panel of judges like backstage which determines who goes on tv and who doesn't so simon is just saying what people at home are probably thinking . Sometimes he is really mean and dream crushing but before he supports the american idol, they need to know how to sing beautifully right? i mean randy is just funny to watch his face expressions and paula just passes people.but, REALLY WITHOUT SIMON, THE SHOW WOULDN'T GO ON.

He's honest. that makes him a good judge, but it also makes him seem like an ***, because hes just too honest.

But, when people are complimented by simon, they know that hes being honest, and that its very rare to be complimented by him; rather than paula or randy.

Love him because he's sincere, people in 'the industry' are probably not always truthful and at least you know he is telling you the truth. It's also fun to watch BUT I'm sure if I were one of those contestants and he said something nasty I wouldn't like it!

Love him. He's hot. Except when he does bitchy stuff. Like how last week he made fun of those kids, who undoubtedly had something wrong. He said one of them was fat and the other looked like a bush baby. Or how he had a hangover this week.

Love Him he may be a little brutal sometimes but atleast you know that he's honest and he's not afraid to tell you what you're doing wrong.

Love him. Brutally honest people are funny to me. Plus i think he can take it as well as he can dish it out. You have to respect a person who will tell you exactly what they think. and everytime he was wrong he admitted it without hesitation.
