Depends on the type of jacket. I removed an embroidered name once and then washed the jacket and washing it sealed most of the holes made by embroidery work. If it is leather or suede this will be tricky. It is worth the chance so get a nice seam ripper from sewing store or Walmart and take out stitches or ask Grandma to do this. Now either wash it (do not dry it) or have it dry cleaned if that is what the label says. If holes look sealed then have it embroidered again. If not then consider weather or not your correct name might cover any needle holes left. If your name will not then consider buying a solid patch in a color that will match and take the patch to have your name embroidered onto it (sewing store). Think about what a mechanics uniforms look like. Their names are almost always on a patch. Have the patch sewn on to the jacket. Otherwise find a nice big patch that you like to cover the area and have it sewn on. Ex: soft drink, beer brand, race car, football team, etc.

Whose mistake was it. If you gave the wrong name, you're stuck. If the embroiderer put the wrong name on your item, they should remove the name and re-embroider it correctly. Please be aware that sometimes the embroidery cannot be removed without damaging the item. In that case, I would expect the embroidery shop to re-imburse you for the jacket. You will need to have proof of the cost in order to request reimbursement.

Did you tell them the wrong name or did they do it? Regardless, you should be able to have it redone. It depends on who made the mistake as to who pays for it.
