the CD music club is offering compact discsat a price of two for $19.95 instead of the regualt price of $12.95 each. What percentage discoount is being offered? how did you fine this out?

2 * 12.95 = 25.90

19.95/ 25.90 = .77 = 77% of original price. So it's 23% off.

Divide the total ($19.95) by the number that you are getting (2). That tells you the average price for one disc. Then take that amount and divide it by the regular price ($12.95) to get the percentage that the new price is of the old price. But to find out the discount, you have to subtract that percentage from 100%. That will tell you the discount. Sorry for not doing all the math for you, but I think you will learn nothing if I do. Give it a try :)
