I have a very sore area under the skin to the right on my midriff. There is no rash, redness or any other detectable sign of anything being wrong there, but it really hurts when I stretch, turn over etc. i have spoken to doc who just shrugged his shoulders and was no help at all. Im sure its nothing serious but it hurts and im curious to find out if anyone else has experienced anything like this? I have a sneaky feeling it is to do with my midriff stretching quite fast to accommodate the baby, do u think that would be possible? Im 23 weeks

Ha - The great tug-o-war has begun. Now is when the baby is really growing and your uterus has probably moved past your navel. It just round ligament pain. You have round ligaments that run down your sides down to your pelvis. I had this with both pregnancies. Its normal but still uncomfortable

This is your round ligament stretching. THis is the ligaments that support your growing uterus. This pain is sharp and can be on one or both sides at the same time, but it only lasts for a few seconds. This is very normal and causes you or your baby no harm at all. Like I said, it's because your uterus is growing. This pain is usually brought on by twisting and some stretching. For me, I even get it when I sneeze... very painful!

It's the stretching of the ligaments and you will find with time you feel this in more areas and will know what it is. Your ob should have taken the time to explain this to you. There is a book called "What to expect when you are expecting" it's actually quite helpful with the small stuff like this

Good luck

Yes it's your muscles and ligaments stretching. And I am also surprised your doctor didn't help. Good luck.

It is your ligaments that support your uterus stretching. I'm surprized your doctor didn't tell you that.

if the pain is where your bra is switch to bras with no under wire. that relived it for me my doctor suggested this. try maternity bras and you may need a larger one
