Are you able to eat breakfast when you get up? Some people can't stomach anything very early in the morning, but it is a good way to boost your energy levels, especially if you have some complex carbohydrates, porridge is great and will keep you going for a good while, as will whole grain breakfast cereals.
I worked as a milk delivery girl when I was in high school, 4 am start, so I know where you're coming from! Winter is especially bad, it doesn't seem so bad in summer when dawn is very early.

I know That I probably on old man but tablets ain't the way ahead.
If your diet isn't balanced you will have ups and downs during the day and feel like crap in the morning.
The best thing that Ive found for early starts is pasta for supper, and then fruit juice and porridge when you get up.
Try and keep away coffee and pills they are good for an hour but the come down will make you feel awful.

A good night's sleep is always a good place to start. Try not to eat a big meal before going to bed (eat your big meal at lunch time for example). Another trick that I learned that gets me going in the morning is before going to bed at night, I go for a run/walk (about a mile), take a hot shower, and I sleep like a baby. I get up in the morning, have a little something for breakfast as well as an energy drink (my favorite that actually tastes good is the 180 energy drink). If you have trouble getting to sleep at night, try taking some melatonin or other sleeping pills shortly after supper, and you'll be sure to get to bed early and be ready to wake up early.

What time do you got to bed at night? Perhaps you are not getting enough sleep. Be sure to drink a large glass of orange juice in the morning. Many people simply are not morning people and it takes at least and hour or sometimes until noon to wake up. However in many cases it does depend on your habits the night before. Such as if you drink alcohol or stay up late etc....

The best thing in the long term is a healthy breakfast (porridge, cereal) and fruit. - it really does keep you going. My partner starts work at 3.00 in the morning and after trying everything he finds this the best pick me up. I know it can be hard as its anti-social but try going to bed earlier if you can.
