in the morning the car is fine, then if i use for like thity mins or so, my temperature seems to rise and the car will turn off if i come to a complete stop. my temperature gauge is not accurate.

the computer in your 88 iroc uses input from the temperature sensor to correctly adjust air/fuel ratio. if your temperature guage is not accurate the air/fuel ratio will not be accurate also which can cause stalling at idle or hesitation when accellerating.

It could be that the car is overheating to a point where the internal computer says it's done and shuts off. There could also be several other electronic components that are acting erradically once they heat up.

I suggest you take it to a mechanic and have them run diagnostics on it and see where that takes you.
