One of the biggest mistakes that some make who want to hit the long ball is to swing up at it. All you need to concentrate on is good contact with the bat. A good level swing. One thing to try is to try and hit the ball right back to where it came from. Swinging upwards to try and get it in the air will result in nothing but pop fly's. Also, keep your weight on your back foot until the ball arrives and then explode your hips through when you swing. Alot of your power is generated from your hips and legs.

Use your butt. Seriously
A ball is hit a long distance by using your butt.
A ball is thrown a long distance by using your butt
And a ball is thrown hard and accurately by getting your feet down in the proper position and pushing off with your legs.
By striding into a pitch and using the lower part of your body to generate force you will significantly increase the distance the ball travels
If you're playing slo-pitch ,then stand deep in the box with the back foot on the back line, wait until the ball comes down and then stride into it.
Keep your hands back , keep your weight on your back foot .and then step into it rotate your hips and then using a level swing and good bat speed hit it hard and square. It will go far
Next time you watch an MLB game pay attention to what a player's lower body is doing when he hits , throws or pitches a ball. It is very instructive.

Do these drills... You need an old vehicle tire, tie it up on a tree or something will make your strike zone...And hit it 35 times a day... Dont do a full swing, ones you have contact the rubber, you have to hold the energy in this drill you develop your wrist actions... Its more on the wrist not all the arms if you have the speed and strong wrist for sure you'll hit the ball further!

The biggest difference between long hitters and short hitters is that long hitters hold the bat much looser than short hitters. This allows them to swing the bat much faster, as their muscles are not clinched. (Notice how many times a pro player swings as loses the bat?) Try holding the bat very loosely, and accelerating through your swing, pulling the bat with your left hand (if your right handed), through the ball.

1 - Look at the pitchers waist so that when she/he throws the ball you can follow the ball from her/his hand
2 - follow the ball and never keep your eyes off of it
3 - Swing your lower body towerds the ball then let your upper body follow
4 - Let the momentum of your body and your rist do the rest of the work

try hitting a basketball off a tee. doing this on a consistent basis will increase your power and if you practice good mechanics it will strengthen your ability at the plate.
