If this is your first pregnancy, your abdominal muscles may just be holding it all in. Don't worry, with my son, from 20 weeks on they had me freaking out. The Dr. kept telling me I was measuring too small. I kept telling them I was carrying low, so I thought he was just further down into my pelvis. They sent me for 4 ultrasounds during the last few months. They kept telling me he was small. They even went so far as to change my due date. Yada yada.
Well, he was born on Nov. 29Th 7lbs, 10oz. 20 1/4 in. Perfect size, perfect color. Very healthy little man.
So long story short, listen to your body. It is usually a pretty good indicator of how things are going. 39 weeks is almost time for your baby to come. I hope things will go well for you. Trust your body, it knows what it is doing. Besides, if your Dr isn't worried, then you probably shouldn't be either.

I have the same situation, up until my 7th month I had only gained about 10-12 pounds, and when I would tell people my due date they wouldn't believe me. I'm now 39 weeks pregnant and I have reached 25 pounds weight gain total through the entire pregnancy, but i don't look it; my belly isn't monstrous and I haven't gotten fat at all, no stretch marks, no jiggly butt, no jiggly arms, I look great, just with a big disdented belly. (I worked out and was very fit before I became pregnant, and I have a smaller body type/frame, which might influence this). Also, I simply didn't pig out like crazy as an excuse for pregnancy. A lot of women gain far more than they should.
I had an ultrasound just this morning to measure amniotic fluid levels and my baby looks to be 7 pounds, and a very healthy and happy baby girl. You don't have to gain monstrous weight amounts to have a healthy baby.

I just had the same prob two weeks ago I was 30 weeks and they measured my stomach with the measuring tape and I only measured 27 weeks The doctor was a little concerened and order a sonogram. I was so worried!!! I asked the same qeustion to and couldnt find anyone with the same problem.Well I had the sonogram and the baby the baby was measuring big I was 30 weeks and he was measuring 32.5 and was already 4 in half pounds so he was bigger than normal. So the measuring tape doesnt really work! I hope that makes you feel better. Dont worry everything is prob fine

If you're doc is not concerned then don't be worried..I was very small at 37 weeks and I had a 9lb baby....Imagine if I was 39 or 40 weeks.
The thing is I was so small, some ppl couldn't even tell I was pregnant.. How weird?
My doc also told me I wouldn't have a baby over 7lbs. He was damn surprise the day I gave birth.

With my 2nd baby I measured small at 39 weeks and I was induced a few days later for something else and my baby weighed 8 lbs and 8 oz. Definitley not a small baby. I doubt you have anything to worry about. Especially if your doctor seems ok with it.

I measured small during my entire pregnancy so they let me go over 2 weeks and I ended up having a 10 pound baby. I am not sure that how you measure has anything to do with the health or size of your baby. My baby was just perfect.

If your doctor is not concerned you shouldn't be either. They monitor that stuff well and especially since you are at 39 weeks I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about.

I wouldn't be concerned at all. As long as your getting the correct medical attention don't worry about it. Try to relax and enjoy the little time you have left of your pregnancy! Good luck!
26 weeks with my first!

With my first baby, I measured really small. I didn't even "hit the charts" as my dr told me. But it all depends on your body type. Whether you carry closer to your abdominable wall too. I'm 36 weeks, and I measure REALLY small again. My dr. doesn't really tell me much and I'm worried too, but I guess that's why they call them drs because they know what is right and wrong with what is happening. I hope you get it figured out! And congrats!!!
