My son is the same way. I have put mittens on and still when I take them off, chilly little fingers. My son is teething and has his hands in his mouth a lot. My ped says this has a lot to do with it. His circulation is fine and everything.

A baby's hands and feet are usually cold because these extremities are farthest away from the body where most of the baby's body heat is. Also the skin is thin and there is little fat for insulation. Putting baby mittens on his hands will keep them warmer and also keep him from scratching his face and thumb sucking.

I was told that it's normal because a baby's circulation takes a little while to get up to speed. Try doing some little exercises with his hands to get some blood flowing faster.

Babies are more prone to losing heat through their little head. That is why babies are given caps when they are born. The best source of heat for a little one is the parent's body. When a baby is born, that is why they are put up against the mother's skin. The best thing you could do to keep your infant warm is : Gloves, cap, and wrapped up in blankets. But make sure you don't overheat your little one. If you do feel worried over it... the very best advice you could it is from your baby's doctor.

I have a 24 month old son and his hands are always cold and it s not the first time. Could there be something wrong with that? I mentioned that to his doctor before, for some reason i feel it s not normally. His doctor said it s normal awhile back. I have this feeling something might be wrong. It scares me a bit.

Infants circulation can take a long time to work properly, that is why they have difficulty with both being too hot and too cold. I wouldn't worry about it until 3 or 4 months of age.

Old wives tales tell us "cold hands has a warm heart" and in french your baby might be a "frileur" - a person who is never warm, which as I understand it means the person is nice but was born into a cold room or something.
You baby might not have enough fat, might be a little chilly in the enviroment or not great circulations. Check with your doc or nurse on your next check-up.

Hi extremities like hands and feet are cold often. Check the neck with your back of hand, how does that feel? same as your hand? fine, colder? extra blanket or heating up, warmer than your hand? then take opposite action
