He 'll come back on the next day instead. How do you feel if you were me, and with your neighbours look at you strangely, as if your husband doesn't love you anymore?

This is just my opinion, but it sounds as if you are placing way too much importance on Valentine's day. My wife and I might give each other token gifts for Valentine's day, but it is not expected. If I didn't get her something one year, she wouldn't think anything of it. We consider it a "Hallmark" holiday - meaning: it is a holiday created solely for the greeting card industry. That may or may not be actually true, but that is how we treat the day.
And how the neighbors look at you shouldn't even be an issue. They aren't married to you or your husband. The fact that he has a job and that he takes it serious (apparently, since he has to make this "sacrifice" of missing Valentine's Day) speaks volumes about his work ethic. He wants to succeed in his job so that he can provide well for his family. Of course, I am making assumptions here, but my point is that what the neighbors think should be irrelevant.
Hope this helps.

Valentines Day is a HALLMARK Holiday! It is just a day that has been picked so that stores can make money...it has gotten WAY out of control and you shouldn't need something on Valentines Day to show that your husband loves you!!!!! If you do then there are bigger issues to look at other than Valentine's Day!

WHO CARES if neighbors look at you strangely - who are they and what do they know? You should careless what these people think and get a grip. Valentines Day does not determine how much someone loves you or not. He's working abroad and I'm sure he's providing for your family - that should be all you need!

Honestly, who the hell cares what your neighbors think? If they think your husband doesn't love you because he was traveling home to you, then they need to get a life. And if you're so worried what they think about your life, then you need to get a spine.
