Its almost like a cult mentality!!! I've lived in Europe, Australia and Canada and people in those places have a "if it happens great, if not o'well". Here in America its like marriage/kids by 27 or all is lost. Why do Americans take marriage and procreation so seriously?

I think the complete opposite. It doesn't seem like we take it seriously at all. Look at the divorce rate. If marriage was taken seriously I doubt the divorce rate would be as high as it is. I don't really know why people are in such a hurry to get married. I'd rather wait until I finished college and all that before I got into something like marriage. But what you're talking about is probably because of religion. In other countries they are more open about sex and that stuff but most religions in the U.S. forbid anything like that before marriage. So maybe it's just a culture thing.

Because our country was built around a bunch of prudes ... I mean Puritans ... lol ... I feel ya ... I loved living in Germany - Europeans were so open about sex & marriage ... nothing like the states ... one day ... one day ... we'll have Red Light Districts ... and Whore Houses too ... haha just kidding ... !

I think its really just insecurity....and many get married because of other reasons. Like having a family before a marriage...
