I believe it can be filtered, but you have to have specialized equipment and we are talking about a LOT of oil. I've had to do that when I worked at a fast food place years ago. If you cook out you might be able to, depending on the oil you use(I prefer EVOO, or Extra Virgin Olive Oil)to light your charcoal. It burns and doesn't have the nasty smell of charcoal starter.

i always re-use my oil from when i cook taco shells !! I put it in a jar & use it the next time.

You can compost it along with other biodegradables, can't think of any actual use for it.
