was that the best thing to do or not?!?

It really doesn't matter if it was the best thing to do because you've already done it. (BTW, I see nothing wrong with it)

Since you have already done it, you need to find out what the aftermath of your statement is. I don't know if you text, email, or talk on the phone on a regular basis, but you need to find out what that boy thinks.

He might have been scared (at least you didn't say you love him, which would have been potentially scarier), or he might just need some time for it to sink in. If he returns your feelings, then you two need to get together and start exploring a new level of your relationship. If he doesn't, respect his feelings and see if you can be just friends.

Good luck, girl!

just let it hit him. it will take him a while to realize what has just happened. It's normal to like someone that you havent seen in a long time. He could take it as a hint and come see you. Dont spring on him though. Give him time to get to know you as more than just an old friend.

Maybe.

If you guys still keep in touch, then sure it was a great thing to do! Especially if you two are close friends.

But...

If you haven't and it was out of the blue, it may seem kind of weird. people change, and this person might be very different now.

Well it's good that you told him how you really feel so you can get that off your chest. But it might have scared him away. Just because he got scared doesn't mean you shouldn't have told him.
