You gotta think that the Braves getting Mike Gonzalez and the Pirates getting Adam LaRoche was the best trade. The trade benefits both teams and addresses each teams largest weak spot from 2006 (the Braves leaky bullpen and the Pirates lack of left-handed power). Plus, both teams got what they needed by dealing away from places where they were already fortified (the bullpen of the Pirates was fine last year even when Gonzalez went down with an injury, and the Braves were the second highest scoring team in the league in 2006 and have up and coming Scott Thorman to fill in LaRoche's shoes). Good trade all around.

I think the Chicago White Sox had too many pitchers and did the right thing by trading Freddy Garcia and Brandon McCarthy. There rotation is still top of the line, and now they have a few good, young pitchers. The Oakland A's traded away Mulder and Hudson a few years ago, and it didn't slow them down any.

The Sheffield deal was great. Not that the players the Yanks got were anything spectacular, but they did get alot of them, but more importantly, they kept him away from the Red Sox, who were desperate for a right fielder with his type of bat. Sox would have signed him for much less than they signed JD Drew and I believe Shef will be a better player than Drew over the next 2 years.
Hopefully, one of the players the Yanks got from the Tigers will contribute to their next WS championship. Could be Humberto Sanchez.

Did Randy Johnson sign with the Diamondbacks? That would be the best trade.

I personally liked seeing Randy Johnson coming back to Arizona Diamondbacks for 3 minor leaguers.

phillies fan here but i still think that the garcia deal is the best deal this off season, adding garcia to this rotation gives us 2 top of the line starters (garcia and myers) it makes our rotation the best in the NL east and possibly the NL, making the phillies a legit WS contender with the best offense in the NL.
