Thanks to the Navy I had had a lot of time in Italy.... I had some great time just getting on a bus and riding till the ticket ran out and finding where I was.... there were a lot of small towns where they seldom, if ever, saw tourists... let alone an american Sailor... I got invited into homes and fed like a king... taken around and showen the sights... Italy, like every where, has some bad in the big cities.... do not like big cities... but the real people of italy were the greatest... I know things have changed in 40 yrs... but would love to go back and just wander around the real italy again.... and I still can not speak the language...but never had a problem any where in the country side... a few words and sign laguage and good manners always got me treated real good.

When I was in Italy, I can honestly say that I've never seen such pretty people in my life. Not to mention friendly and helpful, even though I don't speak Italian. I love Italians.
