What is the answer to:

3 minus 1/3 to the fourth power?

3-(1 ) 4
__
( 3)

Something that looks like that. The computer doesn't have the signs to make it. The 1/3 is in parantheses () and the 4 means to the fourth power. Exponents.

I think you mean 3 - (1/3)^4.

Remember the order of operations.
First do exponents: (1/3)^4 = 1/81
Then do the addition/subtratction: 3 - 1/81 = 2 80/81

You mean 3- (1/3)^4?

(1/3)^4 = 1^4/3^4 (raise both parts)

1^4 = 1x1x1x1=1
3^4 = 3x3x3x3=81

So 3-1/81 = 242/81 (or 2 and 80/81 or 2.987654321 which is kind of a cool number)

1/3 to the fourth power is equal to (1/3*1/3*1/3*1/3) = 1/81.

Now, 3 is equal to 243/81 (just multiply 3/1 * 81/81 to get a common denominator).

So, 243/81 - 1/81 = 242/81

That's the answer...242/81.

I'm a little confused as to whether you meant to put the 1/3 to the power of 4, and then subtract that from 3, or first subtract 1/3 from 3, and then raise that result to the fourth power. I'll do both.

You have to lay it out differently. Here's the way to write such forumlas in text:
3 - ((1 / 3)^4)
[the above formula raises 1/3 to power, then subtracts from 3]
(3 - (1 / 3))^4
[the above formula subtracts 1/3 from 3, then raises result to power of 4]

You can use google to do this for you. Here's are links that show how:

those are the equations you would be utilizing: 2x+3y=33 3x+2y=31 Use removal to remedy for x and y. Multiply each with the help of a quantity which will cancel out a variable. to that end, x is canceled -3(2x+3y=33) +2(3x+2y=31) -6x-9y=-ninety 9 + 6x+4y=sixty two = -5y=-37 so y=7.4 Plug fee of y (7.4) into the two equation to get fee of x 2x + 3(7.4)=33 ...2x=33-22.2 ...x=5.4 So, the respond is the binders fee $7.forty a chew and the staplers fee $5.forty a chew
