course. america's a much bigger place, therefore u get a lot more music which is the audible equivalent of a gorrilla's excrement. and if you're an english speaker u don't want to be listening to foreign-like lyrics, do u? unless we're talking about genres w/out vocals, or where vocals aren't important.
plus many of the world's most legendary bands are british or mostly british - zeppelin, stone roses, libertines (well...maybe), beatles, kinks, radiohead, smiths...
america have justin timberlake.

Best is very subjective. If you like country then the USA is better. If you like accordion music France is better. But the UK has got lots of fantastic bands and some great genres that it excels at. So for my taste British music is best, followed by Scandinavia and then Eastern Europe. But this is just for the kinds that I enjoy.

It's a matter of opinion. Britain has produced some fine music (Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Black Sabbath), but it has also produced some truly awful abominations (anything connected to Stock, Aitkin & Waterman and Simon Crappy Cowell).

All music is fairly **** at the moment, albeit better than it has been for the last 15 years or so. Historically, Britain has punched above its weight in terms of music; but overall, the US has been a greater influence on popular culture.
The golden years were 1965 - 1980; since then, it's been ever-decreasing returns.
