Emo doesn't mean emotional as most people think it does. It means emotive hardcore, which is a type of music.

My opinion is that "EMO" has become a term to describe the way you dress. It used to mean emotional, but now public perception is if a guy wears skinny pants and all black that means he's EMO.

emo has become a whole type of music expression-the type of music/style of clothing---an artistic expression....but yeah the word emo comes from the word emotional
