I have a 98 Chevi Cavelier, and I has started to stall unexpectedly. Suddenly I have no controle over anything but the lights and sterio are still on, and the dash lights. Just no juice. Does this sound like a serious problem?

sounds like you need to replace the fuel filter. this is the most common cause. if changing fuel filter has no effect then the fuel system needs tested to determine which component is bad. if changing the fuel filter helps the problem then add a fuel injector clean next time you fill up this will help clean out the fuel system.

It could be a number of thing's. Have you ever used fuel injector cleaner before? Just buy it and pure it in your gas tank. Do you have to constantly keep recharging your battery? If so, then it is your alternator. Take it to Auto Zone, Napa, or O Reilly's. Have them test it. It might also be your 02 sensor. If that's the case, then your not getting enough gas for combustion in your engine. That would also cause you to stall out. What ever it is, it's more then likely your fuel.

It looks such as you have long gone into computerized close down or risk-free practices mode. this occurs at 10&a million/2 volt. to guard the electronics on a motor vehicle. Low voltage reasons extra warmth in electronics. So value the Battery. start up the automobile, verify Battery, alternator, belts, replace undesirable area. ought to do it. And heated seats draw a large style of potential, ought to have close them off! And all electric no longer mandatory! some circumstances then they're going to restart and you will pass 20-30 miles to a save. Saves the tow bill.

The lights and stereo are on, (by "no juice" I take it you mean the engine stops running), so the battery and charging system (alternator) are probably OK. The next likely culprit is the fuel system, and after that, the ignition system. Either way, these systems in late model cars are very complex and require diagnosis from a qualified mechanic.

This would happen to me in my 94 Acura Integra and it was because the alternater was going out and the throttle body was bad. It could be a very serious problem, but with a 98 it may be that your computer got thrown off and you need to have it tuned up (to include the computer diagnostic). Good luck.

could be tune up problems, gas line problem, electrical or engine problem. check the oil level, battery power, fill up with super and add fuel injector cleaner.

if not fixed check w/a mechanic who knows chevys.

How cold is it where you are? This happens sometimes where I am, when it gets really cold. Becuase the cold takes away the power of your battery.
