lets say i got a d and like one c on my midterm exam the first year of high school. prior to that, during first quarter, i got all a's and one b.. same w/ second quarter. would midterm/final exam grades leave a bad scar on my record if i want to go to a competitive college?

If you manage to pull off a good grade in the class overall, the colleges are not likely to even see the score of one test. They usually just get a transcript of your final grades and that's it.

If you are having trouble, ask the teachers for help. They might give you extra credit projects or help you understand the material better.

I believe before any grade shows on your record, the professor or teacher would ask you if you are having any problems that may be causing a slip in your grades. Depending on your answer will depend on how you will be scored.
