Referrals at my school were written reports when you got in trouble. Parents were notified. You might get some punishment, but it really depends on the situation. Usually detention or something along that line.

Unless you worked in the office for your counselor, who handed you a stack with your own in it and told you to "take care of it." >:)

A referel from my experience meant something bad. Like if I missed a lot of school, a referral would be sent to my parents to notifie them. Most of the time they just mail them, they usually do not call unless you are being suspended or something. Did you get in trouble. I used to check the mail everyday when I knew one was coming, I would just get it and throw it away.

it could be a number of things...in my district when a student gets a refferal it means someone has deemed him/her "not quite right in the head" and they are being sent to psych. services for furrther examination...some kids will be placed on meds, some will be placed in special ed. and others will be removed to a more restrictive environment with smaller classes where they can get more attention or the therapy that they need...

Yes parents are notified. It usually means big trouble.
