It would make the skin oily, I would stick with water, a baby's skin is VERY sensitive.

Lots of skin care companies like to use olive oil and almond oil in their products because of the emolient properties they offer. Many of the anti-aging lotions and treatments have these oils. They are effective and fairly expensive, so those products are thus expensive. If you are interested in some type of moisturizer that really does the trick, these two oils are good. If your skin is really oily though, it could be a bit greasy. I have found that I just have to try things to see how they work!

I was also told to do this for-but for the first month-because usually water dries out the skin but olive oil will help keep the skin from drying out due to the fact that newborn skin is so sensitive.

Water work to clean baby's face.
Olive oil is also fine to use on baby's face, bottom or anywhere else.
In fact, Sophia Loren is reported to use olive oil as a body moisturizer, and she sure looks great for her age!

Just use a good lotion....aveeno is recommended by pediatric dermatologists for dry skin. My daughter has dry skin and eczema and we were told to bath her 2-3 times a day in luke warm water (warm-hot water will dehydrate skin) and use aveeno unscented products. They work great and we haven't had a problem with her skin. I honestly wouldn't put a food product on my child and it was never recommended by her dermatologist....he also said that oils don't moisturize skin, but clog pores and make skin greasy. I would try a lotion first!

Why wouldn't people bath their babies every day? It's really kinda gross....especially with the diaper area.

Not sure about the babies face but I rubbed it all over my belly when I was preggo and my stretch marks were minimal. I know that they have to do more with genetics than products used BUT my skin was terribly soft :)
I dont think it would hurt him unless he has really sensitive skin.

I used olive oil for cradle cap and the occaisional dry patch. I don't know if I would use it everyday, then again I don't bath my baby every day so his skin isn't dry.

Olive oil is a great moisturizer and safe. Far safer than all those chemical and perfume ladden ones they market for babies.

Do what works for you though, obviously I can't know what your baby's skin is like.

In the event it's a fruit it includes seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.

I wouldn't use anything on a babies face. Especially a newborns face. If they somehow get dirty, a damp washcloth would do the trick. If your babies face is dry, use a face stick with lotion.

There's no need for it. What you're doing is fine. If you want to use a little mild soap - like Dove, that's okay too.
