The USA issued a half cent coin from 1793 to 1857. Your 1891 Liberty Head 5 cents would cost you $25 to buy today if it was in Fine condition. How much you would get if you sold it would be a different matter!

The smallest coin was the 1851-1873 3 cent silver coin.
The coin is only 1.4 cm in diameter. It was not legal tender as it was real money. Money has intrinsic (real value like gold and silver). What we call money today is legal tender because government has to pass legal tender laws to make people use it as it has no real value. We in essence are passing debt along by law as our money has no backing of gold and silver.

Your 1891 Barber nickel is probably worth $25 if in Fine condition, 10 in Good and 160 in uncirculated 60. More if in better.
