Over the last 6 years, under the leadership of the Republicans, federal spending has doubled. It looks like the Democrats aren't interested in reversing this trend either.

What can we do to stop this madness?

I think the "Republic" as originally intended is lost to the socialists. I believe with the dems in power the chances are high of a nuke strike in DC at which point all will be moot.

Federal spending has not doubled. It grew from ~2.5 trillion to ~3 trillion. That is still horrible, but it's not double.

The only thing we can do is elect a total hard-*** president. Someone that will veto every single bill until Congress agrees to slash the budget. No more weenies (both parties).

By sending ALL Republican leaders to the frontlines in Iraq!
That's sure to boost troop levels in combat AND reduce big-government in Washington!

More government control- vote democrat
Less government control- vote Republican

And start contacting our legislators and demanding changes.... Of course if your state is represented by a democrat.....they know whats best for you, just ask them...

Uh-- write all your elected officials. that's about all you can do. Oh, and don't use any fed public services if you can avoid it.

Bottom line is that we can't do much.

Step one, outlaw public employee unions. We can't, and that is why government will never be smaller than it is. Welcome to the brave new world.
