These last few days I have come across girls saying they were raped 4-5 months pregnant and in the same breath posting about losing weight in a month

Or girls saying they are 15 and pregnant and then telling people they are a OBGYN and giving medical advice! (BTW that perosn got a best answer too)

I love the 16 and am I pregnant ones too and in the same breath the story has changed

The thing that worries me is that these people are giving medical advice that people actually use or lying about very serious subjects like rape that you shouldnt lie about. Do they have no soul? Do they relaize how wrong this is?

Do you take medical advice from people on here??

Well, I hope NO ONE is stupid enough to take medical advice from strangers on the internet. People are just bored and immature I suppose (take a look at bagmama06's questions and answers). I do not ask medical questions on here, and if I did, I would certainly check w/ my doctor before taking anything anyone on here said to heart. Thank you for brining this to everyone's attention.

I never take medical advice from anyone....sometimes I think my doctor is full of it lol. I don't see the point in even asking a question on here because people are so uptight and don't give advice they just tell you what you need to do and you better do it because they are right. I have seen a few different people that answer questions and if I have a question I will search for it and look for their answers. People are immature and ask stupid questions to get attention, the bad thing is....this is yahoo....no one knows them and no one ever will, they are doing it for their own sick little twisted pleasures. I never give medical advice, just see a doctor if you have a problem, or call them....if you have internet you should have a phone. Also webmd is a good site. Look what you have done lol got me all upset!

I agree. I've actually scolded a few posters for obviously lying (you can tell by checking their other posted questions). There is one person who posted that she was 35 weeks preg and bleeding, and then posted that she was 15 and scared to find out if she was preg, and then again was worried that her and her spouse couldn't conceive! Why? What is the point of being deceitful?

I hope no one here takes ANY of the medical advice from this forum as fact. Everyone with medical questions (pregnancy or otherwise) should ONLY be looking for answers from people who may have experienced similar symptoms. ALWAYS consult a doctor/licensed medical professional!

I don't take medical advice on here, I take my own, lol. I understand exactly what you mean about people lying. They make up a fantasy world to live in. I mean I am using my boyfriend's screen name but, I maxed out my answers already today.

Whenever I read things on here about medical advice, I always say consult you physician or pharmacist. I usually give advice based on personal experiences or information that I have gotten from classes as a senior nursing student and I also plan on going to medical school so I take things on her seriously.

Most of the time, you can judge what kind of person the people are by reading their former questions.

People lie because they think they are anonymous, and no i believe these people have no morals and/or souls. I answer as many questions as possible on here as i can because I have spent almost my entire pregnancy in and out of the hospital and doctor's office asking as many questions as humanly possible. (I believe knowledge is power!) But by no means would i ever expect someone to take my answers as proper medical advice. I'm a scholar, not an MD. I'd hope those asking questions would be a little objective when recieving the advice as well.

Shame on the people that believe them then. When someone answers a question of mine that is too good to be true, I research it. This is merely a internet site that is basically a game. If these women asking serious questions really need answers they should go to a M.D. Sure, there is great advice provided but we should all take it a little less seriously. Hopefully the girls or boys who do this will learn their lesson but as this is a free site we cannot control who gets on here or not. I know this wasn't the answer you were looking for but it's the best I could do!

I totally agree!

I know a lot of bull sh*t stories I have heard on here. Sometimes they are kinda amusing, the ones that really bother me are the insulting answers. Personally, I would never take medical advice but ask for opinions and personal stories. Also I've been raped and it isn't anything to joke about or lie about it infuriates me.

Boredom is my best guess. I don't know why people do it. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, just in case they are a scared teen. I would take everything I see here with a grain of salt. I would never ask for medical advice. That is what my doc is for. It scares me some of the answers people push as truth.

No I don't.

They do it all the time on here. Maybe its for attention. I do know what you mean though. When I come across those people who write those questions I look at their profile and they questions they have asked and answered. You can often tell they are lying. Then report them. Report the abuse. Its all you can do other than ignoring them.

Theres one guy on here asking how many babies will fit into a blender!! It gets gross!

I always read the other questions people have posted before responding to a questionable post, it is usually very enlightening. I'm surprised others don't too.

BTW, it is illegal to use the term "MD" or "RN" and give advice pretending to be such if you do not possess those credentials, even on the internet. It is not illegal to say doctor or nurse though as those terms apply to other things.
