I found out I had it after my 28 week screening. I was very surprised because I had ate pretty healthy throughout my pregnancy. I had to go for diabetic education to learn about what I should eat and portions. I had to get a glucose meter and check my blood each morning before anything to eat or drink and then an hour after each meal. I also had to go for non-stress tests twice a week at my OB's office. My daughter was 9 lbs., but I was a 10 lb. baby myself. The good news is that I only gained 24 lbs. with my pregnancy and within 2 weeks after my delivery I was 20 lbs. lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight. I don't know if the g/d had anything to do with that or not. The best thing to do if you get it is to control it with your diet so you don't have to take medication or insulin injections.

Nope, but at 8 weeks I found out I had Diabetes Type 1...not related to pregnancy. It's been terribly hard to control and I'm having a hard time with it.

I did, but I was able to control it through diet and monitoring. It was a pain in the rear, but I got through it and my blood sugar returned to normal after delivery. It IS temporary.
I didn't get it with my second baby, but I was in the habit of eating healthier by then anyway.
