This is a debatable issue. I had a lot of stress about this when I went to Belize. A doctor friend recommended it, but by the time we found out about it, it was too close to our trip.

Check out the web site for the Center for Disease Control. They will give you guidelines of what is required and what they just advise.

Have a great trip.

i was in INdia for 6 months... Now i had friends who had been there and one of my good friends said he was on his death bed in India with malaria. I also have friends who have used the malaria tablets and it has ruined their holiday because the tablets made them sick.
My story... i lived in Goa for 3 months and did not use any tablets. I lived in South East Asia for 3 years and would recommend that u always have insect repellent. ALWAYS!! After a while the mossies stay away because the smell is in your skin. hhehe. No really this worked for me, most insect repellents contain 10-25%Deet.

Talk to your county health department. They can access the latest information from the CDC about what diseases are endemic.

I am not familiar with the conditions in Goa.......hence I would not make the recommendation to not bother taking anti-malarials.
