People have got to stop voting for politicians who promise them that "big government will take care of you..." Then when disaster like Katrina strikes, they wonder..."Where is the government?" These politicians create nothing more than a welfare state, giving people more of an entitlement mentality and less of a sense of personal responsibility.
Not just new Orleans, but other large American cities where the population is made up largely of minorities who have been duped for years into voting for these liberal Democrats whose agenda is to keep them in the ghetto and dependent on the gov't. It's disturbing. When will the cycle end?

That's what happens when amateurs try to play in the big leagues. I also saw Blanco boo-hooing to the press about Mississippi getting more Federal aid than Louisiana. Well, go figure? Maybe it was because the Governor of Mississippi managed to get all their applications filled out correctly and submitted on time instead of appearing on Oprah and The View.
Has anyone taken note that both Texas and Florida were also hit by Hurricane Katrina, and Florida was also hit by Hurricane Wilma, and yet neither of those states had anywhere near the problems recovering from the damage that Louisiana did. I mean Wilma blew right through Naples, Florida (I was there) across the Everglades and through Fort Lauderdale. Could it be because Texas and Florida were better prepared because they both had Republican Governors?

Unfortunately, I do not believe so because the majority of the people in New Orleans and the south for that matter, have a backward, ignorant, mentality keeping their city and state equal to that of a third world country. New Orleans needs educated, mature, cultured, and intelligent people of all races to work together to build and improve their city. Because the majority of the people in New Orleans are either ghetto or rednecks, they will only vote for ignorance. When you have an adult leader who makes comments such as "chocolate city", what does one expect to happen? Only failure can come from a mentality such as his. New Orleans is a beautiful city, but it is still in the south. Therefore, it will always be 20 years behind. This is sad for the minority of good people who live there.

In my opinion, blacks quite often will pick to re elect a mayor or who ever just to show the white man that they are in charge. This also happend in Washington DC with Marion Berry a few years ago. It was good to see that the congresswoman that slaped the policeman in the capital was thrown out of office though.

you're talking about the same idiots that re-elected a black Democrat congressman that had 90,000 dollars of illegal bribe money hidden in his freezer. Not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer, those New Orleans voters...

The crime is finally starting to go back down in Houston. Thank God that the Katrina "victims" are starting to move back to New Orleans.

Ray Nagin is a Nazi.
He confiscated firearms from law-abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless in their time of dire need. He makes the Gestapo look like boyscouts.
He wants New Orleans to be a "chocolate city"? Fine, let the chocolates pay to rebuild it then!

Yeah right. They'll never learn until they suffer. They haven't suffered until they decide moving back to N.O. for another round isn't a smart idea.
