you see i am adopted and i was abused and i get asked the same stupid questions all the time.. like, Where are your birth-parents?, Do you do drugs?, and Where you abused?, Did your parents do durgs?
well i have always answered them with no's or yes's or i don' know's
i don't know what else to say

If it was me i would ask them the same questions back. if they ask if i was on drugs i would say no why are you looking for a new dealer?

You can always answer their questions with a question to get the conversation going in another direction.
No, I don't do drugs but I read in the newspaper that Paris Hilton got arrested for driving drunk. Wouldn't you think she would at least grow up a little? What do you think about her?
I don't know where my birth parents are but the parents I have now are great. They take me to the zoo and 'mom' always has a great dinner fixed every evening, do you want to come over for dinner sometime? What's your favorite meal? Food?
Everyone has probably been abused in some form or in one way or another. Maybe that's Paris Hilton's problem.....she's been neglected. That's a form of abuse.....maybe her parents just ignore her too much because they always work and that's why she finds herself in trouble all the time. Do your parents work a lot or spend a lot of time with you? What do you like to do with your parents

Turn the question around on the asker. When asked "Where are your birth-parents?" reply "Why do you ask?" If asked "Were you abused?" answer "Is there a reason you need an answer to the question?" Just keep turning whatever is asked back around. Also, remember that people are only expressing their concern for you. We all say stupid things at times... so try not to take these things negatively. There have been plenty of times in my life when I've asked a question and inside I'm thinking "I can't believe I just asked that!!"

Why are you even answering these questions sweetie? No one, I repeat, No one needs to know any of that unless you are comfortable with them. If someone asks you a question about where you are from just say you were from a state and if they start to pry just change the subject. A polite person will drop the subject if not tell them that you don't want to talk about it. Leave it at that.

If you were adopted, those are your parents and accept them as such. They were nice enough to take you in. I am confused by your question though- were you abused by your adopted parents? email me so I can answer your question better.

It sounds like something you don't like talking about, just tell them that. Most times they just want to understand what exactly you have gone through, but youowe no one any explanation of your past. If you don't want to talk about it, just tell them, "I do not really want to get into this discussion right now." Anyone with any respect for you will leave it at that.

Well you should do a little research on your own to find out these questions about yourself and maybe then you will be able to tell them exactly what is going on if it is any of their business

If your really uncomfortable answering such personal questions , simply state , that you will not discuss such things , you are entitled to privacy. if someone gets really pushy , ask if they are writing a book , if so they can leave that chapter out. you dont have to tell everyone , everything about yourself.

i would have answered them the same way. just remember that u dont have to answer any questions that u dont feel okay answering. if its not their business and ur uncomfortable then u should tell them that.
