I would love to add an answer to your question, but I can't even tell where sentences begin and end. Please proofread and use punctuation, and you will most likely get more answers.

SSI is supplemental security income paid to the disabled person from the state they live in and is to supplement their social security check that is usually very small and not enough to live on because they have not been in the workforce long enough when they became disabled. If proven eligible they are supplemented this check and are awarded medicaid benefits that are also paid for by the state they live in. The most these peoples income is about 640.00 a month and is by no means enough for any one to live comfortably in this day and age. Social Security was never meant for anyone to live by comfortably without having planned for their retirement by saving money. People think they will worry about it when they get there and when they do it is too late because they find out it is not enough money to live on. Disabled people probably have the hardest time functioning in this society with the funds they are given and with the challenges they have to bare. They would rather be out working if they could and some of them that can do. I hope this answers your question.

This is from personal experience:

1) For over 20 years I did work and did pay into Social Security and Madicare.

2) In 2005 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage 4 (which is cancer). Because of the diagnoses and the fact the Hodgkins was in my bone marrow I had to have 6 pints of blood before I could start Chemotherapy. Now that I have had 6 months of Chemotherapy the Hodgkins Lymphoma is now in remission, however I have a 60 to 70% chance it will return.

3) Because of these facts, I have been declared disabled to help keep me healthy and to help prevent other problems from arrising due to the fact my immune system was destroyed by both the Hodgkins Lymphoma and the Chemotherapy. Which means I now live off of Social Security Disablity Income and I have another 9 months to go before I will be eligible for Medicare.

Therefore before you begin to judge make sure you have your facts straight. If I could, I would enjoy being able to go back to work. As I really miss working and having the responsibility of having to get up and go to work every day. I miss being able to have friends at work that for the most part I only saw at work, but I no longer have that option. Yes, there are some of which have never been able to work, but there are also many people like me that have worked and did pay into Social Security, which now are expected to live on less than 1/4 of what they would be making if they were still able to work.

My ex husband receives SSI disability benefits and the amount he receives is based in part on what his earnings and potential earnings were. My children receive an extremely small amount per month due to their biological father's disability, and obviously they have not worked. Many of the SSI recipients you mention are children. The system is not perfect, but I don't know what I would do without the small amount I get per month for my kids. I do not receive child support due to his disabled status...not a penny.

Social Security Disability does not mean you are paying for people on welfare - talk to your doctor if it really bothers you
