YES!! But why would you want to. This is just a suggestion, if don't care about keeping the car original take the money you plan to spend on that 305 and put it towards a least a 350 Chevy.

It's obvious that your engine is out of the car. Accept that it performed valiantly and now is the time to upgrade. Bravely go forward by setting to rest this notion that the old still has life. Any modern small block 350 will shame this engine back into the compromise from which it was born. True Chevy performance can be experienced by throttling a 350hp. 350 small block. Any thing else is wasted respect for Chevy's pinnacle of engineering.855hp. 30 over 350s' attest to the solid base of this engine's design. Dissolve the idea that backward 305s' are worthy of evolution . 454+ci's of small block are now the norm!

Young man, have your cylinder head cc'd ask a racing engine builder if there is enough stock on your cylinder heads to cut them to 23 degrees. New iron / bronze valve guides as well as a great valve job will do much more for you than pop up pistons. The very best flame travel in any wedge motor is due to flat pistons and a small combustion chamber. There may be cylinder heads out there that will fit the 305 cylinder bore. If you can find a pair theat have more meat on them be sure that the valve placement will fit your cylinder bore. If you find something with a smaller combustion chamber than your stock heads GRAB THESE FIRST!

Danny, earlier dull your block have the cylinder walls "sonic" examined. This attempt outcome tells the wall thickness of each and every cylinder. some known Chevrolet four hundred blocks are liable to center shift and if so you'd be dangerously close to to the water jackets. in case you want to bore it many agency's make .010 - .020 over sized pistons. not in any respect placed domed pistons in a wedge formed chamber. The flame go back and forth in shrouded by technique of the dome and incomplete gas burning will outcome. Spend you money on having your block "decked" sq.. each and every flat proper piston ought to examine 0 deck measured from the block floor. Your next change can be a chain of Chevrolet Vortec area volume 12558060 forged iron cylinder heads. they have a million.ninety 4 intakes, and a million.one hundred fifty exhaust valves. The combustion chamber is sixty 4 cc. consisting of your decked block the compression ratio will be close to to 11.a million. Chevrolet makes various intense upward push aluminum intakes to in good structure the Vortec head. A Chevrolet cam pn. 12353923 hydraulic flat tappet has 114 lobe centers, .465 intake raise and .448 exhaust raise. merely the cost ticket for a four hundred small block. have relaxing!

You need to go to your local auto parts store and get the info there. They should be able to tell you the piston diameter and all other pertinent info regarding this.
