I have a 9-month-old son who had some problems when he was born and although he was fine within a month without a problem in the world, he has never slept well at night. He still gets up approximately 2-3 times in the middle of the night. He will not go back to sleep by himself. I have to get up, give him a bottle, and then he will go back to bed. I am exhausted, it has been a long 9 months without much sleep. He is always fine, not hot, not cold, diaper is okay (maybe wet, but I use the expensive diapers at night). What should I do to get him to sleep all night? He is the same way in the daytime, he is a VERY light sleeper, if something wakes him up 5 minutes into his nap, he will not go back to sleep again. Yes, I do use background noise to try to help eliminate noises that will wake him up. HELP!!!

I have a 9 month old son as well and he still wakes up 2-3 times a night and eats about 1-2 bottles. I hear his stomach growling so i know hes hungry. I eats like a pig! He eats 2 jars of stage 2 baby food 3 times a day and about 2 bottles and then 2 bottles during the night. hes not overweight and the doctor thinks hes doing great. he is also a VERY light sleeper. So i wouldnt worry, i know it sucks to not sleep but it will evetually stop. My daughter, my 1st child, didnt sleep through till 8 months. Nothing to worry about.

My daughter didn't sleep through the night until she was 12 months old. She wouldn't take a bottle so I was still nursing her. She would wake up at least 2 times a night. I thought it was because she was hungry. But then when I switched to bottles she didn't want it. I then figured out after a week that it was just because she wanted me to hold her. She goes to bed good. No fuss, but she would wake up to be held.

oh the joys of having a baby... if your baby is tired, he'll fall asleep so it sounds like he's getting enough sleep. Congrats that's the tough part out of the way as for your insanity I suggest having a friend/spouse help out. Cant you just wait until there up at 4 am and ready for the day ?!?! Lol, good luck.

get a friend to watch him and get some sleep. after that be prepaired to stay up for a long while. a few days maby. let him stay awake for as long as you can get him too. and if he wants to go to sleep and it's not bed time make him stay awake!!! when bed time comes let him go to sleep. he'll be cranky true enough but if it means a full night of sleep go for it. and when you give hime a bottle put a little bit of baby ceral in it. about 1 even teaspoon. it could be that formula just isn't enough. to dissolve it as musch as possible use warm water and make sure to test the nipple first so it's not clogged. and if it is squeeze it until the formula comes out. good luck!!

what are you feeding your child? I started feeding my son cereal at 3 months after that he slept threw the night (8 hours) maybe every once in a while he would wake up but hardly ever. if you already feed him solids then i don't know what else would work.
Good luck

Honestly if there is nothing wrong when he wakes up at night let him cry it out, this will teach him to soothe himself back to sleep.I know it sounds heartless and it can break your heart listening to it,but I did it with all of my four boys and they came out just fine, not to mention myself who is still sane because she gets to sleep at night.

my 4 mth old is the same thing. what i do is
-make the bottles and keep them warm
-put him next to you and just pat him to sleep
-have a sound triggered recorder to play soothing sounds recorded in your own voice.
-have hubby get up and help you. take turns- one night each.
