I was wondering how far into my pregnancy can I move? I HAVE to wait 6-8 weeks, for my husbands paper work and I can go without him since we are moving 5hrs away, we alreay have a new house and everything will be ready when we get there, his family is preparing the house, I wont be doing ANY of the moving, maybe packing plates or blankets something easy, my husband is going to do all the heavy stuff, I am going to ask my doctor next week just wondering what you had to say about it?

I don't think the issue is the move itself. You can certainly ride in a car for 5 hours. And as long as you listen to your body and don't do anything that causes pain, you can certainly help pack, etc.

The issue is more about who will be providing your medical care in the new place? you need to have that lined up right away, because you don't want to go into labor early or develop some complications or something just after you've moved and have no medical provider to turn to.

You need to line up a new OB/GYN right now, and have the new doctor consult with your current one before the move. YOu need to have your records transferred. And you need to preregister at the hospital you'll be delivering at.

Are you going to have to change doctors? Changing insurance company?

In general, pregnant women aren't adviced to travel at about 35 weeks. This means, don't travel too far from where you doctor is. If you are moving doctors too, then you will be just fine when you move. Just make sure you set up an appointment right away with your new doctor so that they are aware of any conditions you may have.

If you are changing insurance, you have to call your new insurance to be and make sure there is no problem with them accepting your pregnancy and what you have to do to make sure there is no lapse in your coverage. You may also have to ask your current insurance this question...

My mother in law moved into her new house the day before she gave birth to my brother in law... the extra activity seemed to kick her labor off which was good since she was 41w already hehe. Today my brother in law is 33 and she still talks about moving while pregnant and how hard it was on her. I think she's more pissy at her ex husband about the whole ordeal then she was about having to move LOL I dont really have any stand on it one way or the other, you seem to be pretty smart about the whole thing.
