Should all US students that graduate from high school have their university education paid for by state or federal funds, regardless of their past academic performance or financial background.

We don't have that kind of money. Have to draw the line somewhere.

States already subsidize college education for those who choose to go to public schools. It's not like the gov't leaves you completely in the cold once you graduate high school.

I would only be willing to subsidize higher education for students who take it seriously. No offense, but a lot of college students look at their time there as a chance to evade responsibilty, party, hook up, and goof off. I have no problem with any of those activities, but I wouldn't want to be paying out of my own pocket so that someone else could go to college and goof off. I would only consider public subsidies for students who were on track to graduate in 4 years or less, took a minimum number of credit hours each semester, maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher and had no record of disiplinary problems.
