my boyfriend has it and loves (ahem, addicted to) it. The graphics from what I see are unbelievably good and playing it online is really cool. The games are kinda pricey, but then again so are most games before they hit the clearance bin. Honestly, I'd get it but if you can't afford it, befriend someone that has it... I love playing Guitar Hero and soon you won't need playstation for it, they're making a 360 version sometime either this year or next.

First of all i have a 360 and its fantatic. Xbox live IS the best console online multiplayer experience (better than PLAYonline). You can see when your mates are online and chat(or see how long its been since they logged last logged on), invite your mates into a game your playing, compare and (compete for) acheivements (which you get for completing game features) and games like Oblivion are frequently updated with additional content (but must be paid for in some cases), IMHO the wireless controller is also the best to date.
If you're considering the alternatives. This mite help.
Xbox 360 (£209.99 - £279.99) and Playstation 3 (£350+ i think)are marketed at the specialist gamer - males between 14 - 30 years old, they generally have the highest disposable income (ranging from kids with pocket money to single, overpaid professionals) who are more tolerant of high prices and subject to 'must have the best now' pier pressure, hence the premium prices and excellent graphics. This also means the large majority of games will be designed with this person in mind. (Racing, shooting, fighting etc.)
The Wii however, isn't competing on graphics and performance, hence the cheaper price (£179.99), but is also aimed at the wider market basically including girls and younger children, so you'll find a wider variety of games with probably less graphical material/killing and more singing, dancing and the like. It's also relying on exclusive titles such as the fantastic Zelda and its infamous unique-selling point, the nunchukka controller.
So ultimatly in depends on who you are and what YOU want it for.
As for nextgen consoles, with the amount of money invested by all manufacturers on this gen, you can bet they'll be wanting to make the most of it and will wait years before introducing new machines. And even when they do release next gen, the price of current gen titles will drop vs the premium prices of the new generation. Its win-win if you ask me.
Hope this helps.

The 360's aren't the best or safest investment I wouldn't say. My bf got one a couple of weeks ago, and the next day it was having trouble reading the games. He beat the first level of a game like 7 times but everytime it would go to switch to the next, the screen would go black. He gave up and returned the system, I think in exchange for a new one that hopefully wouldn't malfunction. And apparently this is a relatively common problem with the 360's.

Yes, definetly worth getting. Graphics are great, even better in HD. Not sure when they are planning another system, but I had heard they might make an updated version of the 360 with an HDMI port and a smaller processor which should mean a cooler machine and a longer life span.

I think it will be at least 3 years before a next console comes out. AS for the graphics, they are great if you have a HD TV. If not then they are a little blurry because normal TV's can't handle all the pixels. But i'ts worth it to get one. They have a few great games out and a few mediocore ones. Not to mention more will come out like: Resident Evil 5, Halo 3, and more of course!
Great games out for it now include: Lost Planet, Gears of War.

I didn't think I'd see much difference between an Xbox and Xbox 360 on a standard 480i TV screen, but I was wrong. My little brother has one and it is VERY impressive!
It's definitely worth getting one. I don't even like shooters and both Gears of War and F.E.A.R. are fun for me. Also, Dead Rising is the best zombie game EVER!

Well according to my 16 year old , he thinks it is the best out there right now. He likes it better thans ps3. I look for another one to be released in about 2 years so I think it would still be worth it.
