Sounds like you pinched a nerve in your neck while you slept. I've had that happen before several times. One time I pinched it so badly that I lost the feeling in 3 fingers for 6 months, and I had no strength at all on that side. Make an appointment for the chiropractor and get re-aligned. Tell him you think you pinched a nerve. The sooner he gets you in, the less time it'll take for you to feel normal again.

Find a good Chiropractor and get your neck and back adjusted. Your sleeping posture affects your spine, neck and back, resulting in pinched nerves (subluxation). Beware of your sleeping posture - the worse is facing down when you sleep. The best is lying on your back with a pillow under your neck. Swimming and some other exercises can help strengthen your neck and back muscles. Progressive relaxation (search the net) will help you sleep easy and in the right posture. Meanwhile, use ice bag on the painful area to soothe it.

Take 2 Aleve, sit in a hot bath tub, do some stretches. If it isn't better in a week see your doctor. You may need to invest in a new mattress or sleep on the floor for a month.

You most likely slept all jumbled up and you cramped up your muscles. You know how when you leave clothes all crumpled up and theres a huge wrinkle you cant get out? Thats kinda how your muscle is, its all tense and crumpled up. Take some pain killers, lots of water and liquids, hot bath and maybe have someone rub your back for you. Stretching works awesome too...feel better!

I get like this.. my neck gets like this from a combination of
worry and sleeping in the fetal position. I don't know there is
too much you can do to help it in a short period of time, but
may want to eat bananas ( get your potasium ) try a smoothie as well... and drink
as much water as you can and just do some slow movements
to stretch and relax those muscles.

It sounds like you pinched a nerve or inflamed a tendon. Sometimes rest, ice or heat will allow the inflamation to heal. If a nerve is being pinched, it could require a doctor's analysis.

do some stretches and rub your arm even though it will hurt. it's just a "kink" in the muscle. if you don't do anything it will still go away, but it always helps if you stretch it out.

How lod are you? If you're older, you could have had a stroke. Get immediate medical help.
If you're younger, you probably damaged a nerve. It couldn't hurt to see your doctor.
