I ask because most people believe that if a guy finds someone who is technically a male a turn on, or has sex with this person, no matter how feminine they look, sound, act, or how much of a straight woman they feel they are, your gay. Doesn't matter if the guy feels like he's with a woman, people will say he's just a gay or bi guy who's attracted to feminine guys. Is this true?

This means that no matter how much of a woman that the transgendered female is, she can never have a straight relationship since she's technically born a male, and only attracted to men.

This doesn't make sense to me because: I think the genitals of someone doesn't determine what sexuality you are. If your attracted to cute femininity, your attracted to feminine women. But some men identifies as woman, (& even appear & act more female than some women), & are quite feminine & womanly. So logically you'd have to be attracted to them too. & that shouldn't mean your any less straight.

What do you think?

alwaysbombed - Good answer. My question to you though is, what about a guy who has the chemica make up of a woman, but was born with male genitals? The guy you discribe sounds like a man who "pretends" to be a woman, but is very off from character. I'm talking about a guy who naturally is programmed to behave like a woman, even naturally looks like a woman, but has male genitalia.

Is this person still a "man" then? What defines what a man is, just simply genitalia?

invisible - Thats what makes sense to me, that the person was always female at heart, and since her man was attracted to that, how could he be anything but straight?

invisible - Also, what about if the guy became female at a young age before he ever grew up to be a man? He technically wouldn't be a "man", I think if he became a female before that transition of puberty.

eternal_d_m - Great answer. And exactly my point when you mentioned about female body builders.

However, about labeling one as gay or straight/etc, I think those are relevant terms that we need to have in society to communicate to each other what type of people everyone are. If your in the dating game, and your a girl looking to be with a man, but doesn't want to be with a gay man because he likes man only, it's better for her to say, "I'm not dating him because he's gay", instead of saying, "I'm not dating him because he is a man who is attracted to men only." Kind of a extra long sentence that gets in the way of clear communication, you know what I mean?

AdamKadmon - Exactly. I wish most people would understand that.

And going futher with that, I think this same thing applies to guys who are considered to be gay, but feel like women, act, and think like women, but are too afriad to have a sex change. Or they may not want to embrace what they may feel is, "superfical traits", of being female by simply putting on lipstick and a dress. So they may look like androgynous females who are actually guys who live as their own version of living in femininity. They might even hate the term "woman" so they don't embrace it, but they do embrace the feminine life because thats what they naturally are.

If your a guy who finds this attractive, I don't think one is any less straight in this condition either.

gitsliveon24 - I agree. But the thing is, that means a straight man is still straight if he has sex with this Trans woman, which I think he is straight. But when I asked this question differently in the past by asking, " are the genitals what defines our sexuality", most people said, your gay/bi if you have sex with someone who was born a man no matter what. He is still a man.

I guess people aren't really ready to accept that sexuality has nothing to do with who's has what gentitalia.

georgeewert - First, if what anyone says is "twisted" then it;s not "logic". It's bullsh*t. Illogical. Absurd. Make absolutly no sense. I just posed a question based on what others have stated, and lastly stated what I thought in the most logically and unbiased way possible. It sounds like your mad at people asking this kind of question. I'm sorry if you are. I'm just trying to learn something here. No need to bash me.

Secondly, this is a question about whther or not one feels more masculine or more feminine in nature. It's not a question about what animale species one feels they belong to. That would be outlandish.

leslie d - Thats quite a lot of stuff to read so it may take me a while to finish it with the work I have to do in my life. But I will read it soon.

However, if it's true that the Transgendered MTF person is gay no matter how womanly they feel they are, then the men who are attracted to them are Gay or Bisexual. But....

...The problem is this: If the man is Gay or Bisexual, that means he's not attracted to her because he sees her as a woman. He instead is attracted to the man in her/him. But the problem is, the kind of man who's attracted to this type of woman, is not into what REAL Gay men are attracted to.

Real Gays want love from men in every way. This is what it means to be Gay. If the man who like the Trans is Gay, that means he's really just using the Transexual as an easy & safe way to live the Gay life style without being seen by the public so easily. It means he's in denial and really just wants a man who lives as a man. But I don't think this is always the case.

Anyone who "considers" themselves women should consider themselves in a "straight" relationship if they are in a relationship with a man. Even if they are still considered physically male themselves. Its not the physical attribute that makes you a male, its the mental ones. After all, if this person didn't feel emotionally and mentally female, they wouldn't be having the change! Therefore they were female BEFORE the change.

well that's exactly correct, I am a transsexual but i am gay i am also strait (in my mind, since i see myself as female). You will find alot of stubborn transsexuals who dont want or wish to admit they are gay, But in all aspects by definition you are gay if you do have the same package down south as the person who loves you, gay referring to men and lesbian referring to women.

as for your view of a transsexual after SRS, that differs alot, you may want to study the case

<<< i understand what your saying and where your coming from but your failing to see the point of the stated definition, gay is a sexual orientaion, that specifically means that a man has sexual tendancies towards another man, yes correct, but if your gay that means you love that man, but hence the word man which is a person that we as the public view as having the male sex organs and its reproductive organs, it doesnt matter if hes a guy in a dress, as long as he still has his male sexual organs he will always be gay, your implying that if you are gay you must directly love another man along with his outter wardrobe but i may remind you that if your a man you have the sexual organs of a male, hence if i love men and my sex is still male also, under all this makeup and womens clothes i am still a gay man. ^_^

The realm of psychology used to refer to transgendered women who were attracted to men as homosexual, but since the gender identity of the person is fixed and female they have changed the terminology so that the person would be considered straight. A person's chromosomes don't determine what gender someone is, xx and xy is simply a simplification that ignores the many other options, and women with xy due to androgen insensitivity are not considered men because of their chromosomes.

Although I don't like the idea of saying if people are straight or gay since I believe it really doesn't matter, I totally agree with your assessment that being attracted to femininity would logically include many transsexual women as well without being "gay," much like how most straight men are not attracted to women body builders, because they are more masculine than the average woman.

A man can put on a dress, makeup and high heels, have a sex change operation and get breast implants, but sadly... his genetics say XY, and not XX, so it's still A MAN!

There is no way for a Man to behave more "female" than a natural born female. You are speaking of a gender role, "ultra feminine woman" that is a gender role. So what you should say is that a man can pretend to act more feminine than a genetically born female.

A man in a dress, stilletto heels, sex reassignment surgery (or not), full face makeup, female hormone replacement therapy, hair extensions, and breast implants is still a MAN.

He can only give the appearance of being a woman, he's still a genetic male XY, and not female XX.

A myopic view would be to quantify prison gay and homosexuality together. One would be a choice and the other a lack of options. The relationships are of convenience. As you said they are not maintained after release of the inmates. I think the largest point you are failing to grasp is why it happens at all. Trapped like a rat in a box with people who could just decide to kill at any moment day or night. Zero physical contact with females. Boredom, depression, and not allowed to posses pornography most times. You might do some pretty weird stuff to pass the time or feel safe.

Oprah had on a couple that were married when they were man and woman. Years later the man had a sex change. The couple stayed together. Now thtat the man is legally considered a woman everywhere, and the couple is legally married, it is one of those cases where the law has no affect on this marriage because there is no law to affect this couple.

The moral of the story is law is subjective and bound to the thoughts of whats already been thought by man and the confines of language.

This is just my opinion but if a mtf has a relationship with a man, than I don't think he would be considered gay because the TS for all purposes feels & lives as a woman

its NOT a gay relationship its a relationship between a man and a woman. I am a transsexual and id never consider it a gay relationship. i have talked to many gay men and they want nothing to do with a transsexual because they consider us women just like we consider ourselves women.

its perfectly normal and its a straight relationship. and anyone who uses those damn chromosome arguments is just ignorant and ill informed.
