As some one said using a body lift is the cheapest way to get more height. if you want for how it looks its the best option you can get up to 3 inches if your s10 is 98 or older and you can have only 2 inches if your truck is 99 + . If you want some off roading you probably need a lift kit, the price may depend on what driveline yuo have if its a 2wd or a 4wd.
but yuo can get them for as low as 300 bucks for and as much as a couple of grand.
ppersonaly i recomend the body lift i have one on my gmc sonoma 2wd (same as s10) I actually have 3.5 inches from suspension and 2 body lift.it costed me like 900 bucks for both of them. by the way i dont recomend the coil sprimgs method cause your ride is going to be very stiffy youll need to modify or change your control arms and get larger shocks. (i had it in my truck for a month or two and it broke a lot of suspension parts including ball joints) so dont mess with the coil springs if you dont want to modify many things

A Jack. You can use it while you put an actual lift kit on it. Please don't try any other way because I have kids in my car and I don't want parts breaking and flying off of your truck if you are in front of me. Just spend a few bucks and get a kit. If you can't afford it, you shouldn't be doing it anyways. Save for a couple of months or whatever and buy a kit on Ebay. Cheap as you can get it.

you can go with a larger tire. I believe yours either came with a 215/75/15 or a 235/75/15. You could possibly step up to a 265/70/15, which would be significantly wider and a little taller. Keep in mind that if you go with a taller tire, it can be hard on you trans.

Maybe a couple of inches but that's it.
Coil spring spacers in the front to level out with the back.
Anything more would be too unsafe and unstable.

yes, you can get a body lift(which is just blocks that raise the overall height of the truck)....you will not get anymore ground clerance because it is your suspension that needs lifted or else you will get stuck in the mud
