"T" stand for toddler. But that means your average toddler. My daughter has a pair of pants that she wears with no problems as capris, and those pants are from when she was 18 months. She's not 6 yo. So I know exactly what your going through!!
You can either roll up the pants, and pin them down, or get her 5T, and see how they fit her in the waist. We had to buy my daughter 4T when she was 3, because she's so tall. My son has to wear 3T, when he was barely 2. Now that he's almost 3, we're going to have to get him a whole new wardrobe.
If she's slender, then you should be able to stick with 5T, and the fit should be almost perfect. Don't worry about if it cuts into her a little bit. If she has to suck her tummy in a teeny bit, then that's fine. If she has to suck it in, back to her spine, and lay down so she can get the pants on, then they may be a bit to small lol.
You're best bet would be go with a size smaller, or just roll the pants up and pin them down. Or instead of buying her jeans, buy her sweatpants. They have some really cute pants that don't look like they did when we were 6. You remember those? They were tight at the top, and at the ankles, and puffed out in the legs? They have them now, to where they flare at the knee, and they have cute little designs on them. They look atlot better then they did when I was that young!
Good luck to you, and try going to different stores, to see what you can find.

T does mean Toddler. My youngest daughter is small for almost 6 and is still wearing a 4-5T. At age 3 unless this child is freakishly tall is probably wearing a 3T or 4T especially if she is slender. My other daughter was really tall and thin (still is) and was wearing a 4T at 2 1/2 and that was a little large on her. I don't know the measurements exactly but that should be of a little help.

T means toddler.. toddler clothing is bigger in the hip and seat area, so it is easier for putting on if the child wears a diaper or has to wear training pants. Otherwise the length is the same as regular size clothing.
Clothing is messed up big time size-wise its been this way for at least 25 years. Before your Mom knew your size and it was standard in every store. But with clothing coming in from Banglidash, India, Hondurus and China its all different sizing and that includes shoes!!
The only way to make sure is to actually bring the child into the store and try it on them. You can't guess anymore not even about your own stuff!

The best thing to do for that would be to check what size fits good and buy on size larger than that. The "T" stands for toddler, instead of saying months. If she is 3 and is alittle bigger for 3T then try 4T. My son is 2 1/2 and he takes both 3T & 4T so it's a toss up. All store sizes are different but try that. I hope it helps.

T is for toddler and it can be difficult cause it is basically one size fits all you just have to find what works for you Some stores work for my daughters clothes some do not more often than not the waist is too big and the length is too short I agree the adjustable waistband is wonderful.

T stands for toddler if she is 3 she should wear a 3 T. That is how they are sized. When she is four it should be a 4T. With her having a small waist I suggest you buy a couple of belts my little one is the same way. The clothes are sized like one size fits all but it doesn't always work. Try the clothes on her before you purchase them to prevent waisting your money

T does mean toddler. You measure a childs clothing by their age as well as are they average for their age. MY neice is 2 years old so I purchase her clothing that is 2T because she is of average height.

Yes it means toddler. I would just get accustomed to taking up the hems in the legs and get over it.
