The most popular beach spot in Taiwan, as mentioned, is in Kenting. Kenting is Taiwan's oldest national park, and has alot more than just the beach, actually, although that seems to get by far the most attention. It's at the far southern end of Taiwan.
You might also want to try Fulong beach in northern Taiwan.
Depending on your definition of nice, though, there is a neat little park in Hualien on the east coast where you can go down to the ocean. It's a pebble beach, though, and near an airport, so not very good for sunbathing or other beach-type activities, but a cool spot nonetheless.

There are many public pools and private spas in the larger cities around the island. There are also many nice hot springs. As for beaches, it is an island. I would however stay out of the water all along the western coast. If you want to swim, I would recommend the beaches at Ken-Ting on the southern tip of the island. They are clean and beautiful. Be careful of rip tides along the eastern shores.
Good luck

Depends on where you live. On the East coast you won't find too many beaches - you have a mountain chain, road, railroad, and rocky approach to the ocean. West coast might be better, but unfortunately I've never been to the beach there. In Taipei, you have nice swimming pools which open up during the summer, but be ready for lots of chlorine.

Swimming pools are not that difficult to find everywhere in Taiwan.
But unfortunatly, beaches?? Taiwan doesn't have nice beachES. Very few. Maybe I am wrong.
But I know 1 place call Kending. It is good but quite small and it can be very very croweded on summer time. It seems like all of Taiwanes are going there on summer time.

Beaches a million times over...
Most nice pools are way to crowded anyway.

Oh I love the Beach...
But also, a pool is nice, if its in the privacy of your own back yard.
