I mean, after all, the weatherpeople (not meterologists) are always telling us that cold (polar) air masses that come from north of the U.S. are Canadian.

When the cold 'polar' air passes over Alaska and into Canada are they called American cold air masses? And, why not?

Yes. Even in the winter. Just a few weeks ago a low pressure in southern BC had a trailing cold front, but as it rotated CW it became a warm front the crossed into Alberta.

In the summer a Maritime Tropical Air Mass from the Gulf of Mexico often reaches across the USA and into southern Canada.

absolutely, that is what keeps the temperature on earth relatively constant. The jetstream that dips down to the US from Canada bringing cold air, returns warm air northward.
