Or, in other words, how much is a billion second in years, months and so?

Let's see: there are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in a hour, 24 hours in a day, for a total of 24 * 60 * 60 = 86400 seconds in a day. Then, 1 billion seconds = 1 billion/86400 days = 11574 days, 1 hour, 46 minutes, 40 seconds. Assuming a year = 365 + 1/4 days (to count leap years), 11574 days = 31 years, 251 1/4 days.

Summing it all, 1 billion seconds is about 31 years, 251 days, 7 hours, 46 minutes, 40 seconds.

it takes a lot longer than 31 years.people say 1 number=1second but when you get into the higher end it takes a lot longer.for example 1,645,564,988 takes a bout 5 seconds.also a britsh billion is 3 figures longer than an american billion for some reason
.i would say over the course of counting it would average maybe just over 2 seconds to say the number so i would double to 62 years

If one a second?

60 seconds x 60 minutes x 24 hours x 365 days = 31,536,000 seconds in in years.

1,000,000,000 / 31,536,000 = 31.7097 years

31 years, 8 months, 15 days, 12 hours, 36 mintues and 16 seconds.

BUT, just doing it normal pace, it took me roughly 2.5 seconds to say 777,777,777 which would take the longest to say of all numbers upto and including 1 billion.

Well, I seem to be able to count 1.5 integers per second.

so... 1,000,000,000 * 1.5 = 1,500,000,000seconds

60 sec. / minute
60 min/ hour
24 hr/ day = 86,400 sec/day = 31,536,000 sec. / year

47 years
206 days (approx. 7 months, 1 week, 3 days)
2 hours
40 minutes

----
he didn't say you were counting aloud... if you can keep track, you just count the lowest number you feel comfortable with, or you don't really think the number in terms of words, just visualize it as a number... It's hypothetical, anyway.

1 billion seconds = 10^9 seconds
= 10^9 / 3600 hours
= 10^9/(3600 x 24) days
= 10^9 / (3600 x 240 x 7) weeks
= 10^9 / (3600 x 240 x 7 x 52) years
= 31.8 years

Counting once a second?

1,000,000,000 seconds = 16,666,666 minutes = 277,777 hours = 11,574 days = roughly 31 years, counting nonstop.

Well if it takes a second to say every number then divide 1bill. by 60 to get moinutes, then 60 again to get hours then divide by 24 for hours then 7 for weeks, do the math ;)
