I have been trying for months now to get a job in Upstate NY and No one will hire me. I have been out of work for over 3 years and I need help or ideas. If someone has any helpful information, it would really help right about now. Thanks so much

In Northern NY good jobs are often gained not by what you have done but by who you know. If you dont know anyone thats helpful...then you need to start making relationships with people.

Colleges, and government are the best employers in Northern NY. Corning also hires a great deal. Kodak and General Electric are mostly leaving the area. Reynolds and GM are good employers as well. But, if you take civil service exams its one of the easier routes to a good job.

I have taken many civil service exams in Northern NY. I now live in northern California. But, if you have more questions email me at

LOL @ the answer you left me. You didn't have to be that mean about it. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything and I don't go with any of those girls and they know I'm seeing other people.

As far as your question goes....change your strategy. Whatever you have done thus far doesn't work.

Whenever you apply at a job, submit your resume along with your application. It's best to turn in applications in person if that's possible. Then always ask for a business card of the hiring manager. Follow up with them via emal after about a week or call back and speak to them.

Basically, you have to do something to stand out from the other applicants so that they will remember you.
