I had serious cases of shin splints in school. The best way to get rid of them is to always make sure you stretch. I had found the best way to do it is to angle your foot up on a wall and lean forward. It hurts at first but it gets better. Also make sure you stretch really really well before you start to run or exercise. Hope I have been of some help.

1) Rest
2) Speak to your sports store salesperson about the a shoe to address this. Alot of times it is the shoe.
3) Run on softer surfaces (Rubber track field, dirt roads....pavement is softer than concrete sidewalks)

I used to get them, best way is to refrain from whatever activity gave them to you. For me it was exercise that caused them, Acupuncture will take away the pain, but won't cure them.
