The show Shining Time Station which featured Thomas and his friends premiered on PBS September 9, 1984, however Thomas the Tank Engine first appeared in 1946, when stories about him were published in The Railway Series by the Reverend W.V. Awdry.

i watched it when i was like 8 or a lil bit younger and i'm 19 now so hes been around a while
