O.K. THE ONLY PRODUCT I USE IS BLISTEX MEDICATED LIP OINTMENT NOT THE BALM, IT'S AN OINTMENT. IT COMES IN A WHITE TUBE WITH RED WRITING. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VASELINE AS YOU NEED SOMETHING MEDICATED TO HEAL. Vaseline is just a greasyness that will do nothing but promote dryness. I used to use carmex but when I discovered Blistex I found that the carmex wasn't working AT ALL. I actually have dry lips 24/7 and need to apply this once or twice a day. One tube will last a month or more.

Another thing is if you are dehydrated then your lips will also be very dry and burn. Blistex will help with the discomfort but until you rehydrate, it won't go away. If you have peely skin on your lips you should exfoliate them with a rough wet wash cloth to remove it. This will make them feel less dry when applying the ointment.

This is a great way to make your lips soft & smooth & its CHEAP! First to get all of the dead skin off get an old tooth brush & scrub them or get some sugar & rub it on your lips. This exfoliates them & makes them really smooth! But only do this once every couple of months. Then put a good thick layer of Vaseline petroleum jelly on them & leave it over night. In the morning your lips will be as good as new! During the day you can use vaseline, or carmex. And if you continue to keep moisturizing them then your lips will always be soft & smooth! I hope this helps. It works like a charm for me so Good luck! :)

this is a cut and paste to someone else i responed to:

you have got to try Dr. Dan's Cortibalm.

go to the website and and see how it's different from Vaseline and other lip balms, like Chapstick.

I've been using Cortibalm for a month now and I LOVE IT. I first asked for a sample, then ordered the full size.

Chapstick is so waxy and only perpepuates the peeling and dryness.

At night I put vaseline on my lips then I take an old toothbrush, wet it and scrub my lips for about 1 minute. I wipe my lips and reapply the vaseline and go to bed. Next day smooth and moisturized lips. I keep a tube of lip moisturizer in my purse to use during the day.

good luck

There's something that works better than vaseline for me.
What you do is take a vitamin e oil capsule and break it open.
Then just apply the oil in there on your lips.
They're quite cheap and affordable, and they really helped make my lips shiny and smooth.

Try Burt's Bees Beeswax lip balm. It smells good, isn't sticky and really helps trap in moisture.

Other than that, you should just try Vaseline. There's really nothing better for dry skin where ever it happens. Also, do you exfoliate? Sometimes that helps me. Just scrub your lips with a washcloth or BufPuf before you moisturize. (Some people do it with their toothbrush, but I personally think that's a little disgusting.)

I love the C.O. Bigelow lip balm. There's peppermnt oil, which helps smooth out the lips. Also, it seems to last longer than plain old petroleum jelly. It absorbs a bit better I guess.

I don't know about you, but my lips get severely chapped during the winter. Seriously, I wake up most mornings with dried blood on them, simply from them rubbing on the pillow throughout the night. I have tried Burt's Bee's, Carmex, etc, etc. and nothing seemed to help. My mother bought me some Avon Beyond Color lip plumper. I don't notice much that it plumps my lips, but it has retinol and contains an SPF of 15. Works WONDERS!

I've found that plain old petroleum jelly vasoline every night does wonders for dry chapped lips. During the day, wear chapstick underneath any lipstick, and make sure that you always have either chapstick or lipstick on your lips all day long, especially if its cold and windy. I've noticed that the heater in my car seems to dry my lips out too, so just be careful to always wear something, even if its just chapstick, on your lips!!

Good luck!
